A 6-week class focusing on drawing and painting the trees of MBG. Intermediate - Advanced students.
In view of the enormous damage inflicted on the tree population throughout the area during the recent hurricane “Sally”, it seems a timely and an appropriate subject for a botanical art class. A class, no less, of thanks, appreciation and praise. A class based upon the drawing and painting of the trees, native and non-native of the Mobile Botanical Garden’s Tree Collection.
"In Praise of Trees" is a class for the advanced, and not-so-advanced student. Enjoy refining your pencil technique. Your hand/eye co-ordination and observational skills, and find an even greater awareness for the fundamentals of an analytical drawing process that highlights the unique structure of each and every tree. Their unique beauty and magnificence all designed to give your drawing and painting a finer sense of scale, perspective and detail. Feel the magic of creating “value” as your botanical drawing/painting slowly emerges and comes to life with shape, form, depth and dimension. All of this - together with an on-going review of tree drawing and painting technique across the centuries. Additionally, a botany based basic What’s, What and Where overview will offer each student a guide to the Garden’s Tree Collection.
Please Note: This class will be held at the MBG Magnolia Hill (Interior/Exterior) Studio. A partially open-air facility ideal for the practice and presentation of an outdoor drawing/painting class. (The wearing of masks and social distancing will be observed).
